A look for this New Year

So I am back with a new look. This was inspired by the new year, 2012. These past couple of days I had been thinking of doing a look using different hues of silver. Today the idea was perfected when I found this "Party Perfect Kit" from the brand Napoleon Perdis at Ulta. The kit includes a mini mascara, a lip lacquer and a loose eye dust, for only $15 (having a $48 value). The eye dust is the prettiest shade of silver I have seen and blends so beautifully on the lid.
More information on the products and steps are listed below.

Products Used:
1. Stila Prime Pot in Taffy
2. Napoleon Eye Dust #34
3. Urban Decay Naked Palette
4. MAC Phloof! eyeshadow
5. MAC Blacktrack Fluidline
6. Napoleon Lip Lacquer in Pink Lemonade

Steps:
1. Begin my priming the lid and the brow bone with the Prime pot
2. Apply the eye dust with a flat shadow brush all over the lid and in the inner corners of the eyes
3. Apply Gunmetal eyeshadow on the outer lid and blend into the crease
4. Apply MAC Phloof eyeshadow on the brow bone as the highlight
5. Add a bit of creep eyeshadow using a pointed pencil brush on the crease
6. Use Naked eyeshadow and a fluffy brush to blend hard edges
7. Line the top waterline with black gel liner
8. With the same pointed pencil brush mix creep and gunmetal and line the top waterline

Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream

16 oz (453g)
US $10.17
What it is: A moisturizing cream made for dry, sensitive skin. It is described as a "non-greasy cream formula that is excellent for the hands, feet, elbows and knees". The quality humectants and emollients provide intensive and long-lasting hydration so that dryness does not reoccur.

Packaging: Cetaphil moisturizing cream is packaged in a big plastic tub containing 16 oz.

Verdict: During the winter months when my skin tends to become dehydrated and dry, I always worried about my skin peeling or flaking. I did not have a moisturizer that did it all, meaning one that is light weight which is perfect for under makeup and that is rich for night time. My dry skin requires a deep moisturizing cream at night. Giving this to my skin allows me to wake up to a clean and smooth complexion. I came across this moisturizer at Target and thought that it sounded like it might be worth giving a try. Yes the consistency is rich but it just sinks into my skin leaving it soft and glowing. It has also never made me break out. The amount you get for the price makes this product a close steal. The product can last months with everyday use. You can also use this moisturizer anywhere you experience dryness. There is no detected scent, making it perfect for sensitive skin. Lately I have been reaching for my Cetaphil cream for morning and night.

What do you reach for during the cold months?

Dior "Rouge Dior" Lip Color in Ara Red #999- Review, Swatches, and Look

$32 (0.12 oz.)
What it is: A long-wearing, full coverage lip color with a smooth texture.

"Haute couture color and a new ultra-nourishing, long-wearing formula, luxuriously packages in the House of Dior's signature cannage pattern with a jeweled emblem".
-By Dior.

Description of Shade: "A rich true red"- I find it to be a rich red with an orange undertone and a creamy finish

Verdict: Smooth texture, moist application, long-wearing formula and opaque color summarizes my thoughts on Dior's 'Rouge Dior' lip color in Ara Red. This was my first experience with a Rouge Dior lipstick. I have a couple of Dior Lip Addicts which are a nice edition to my collection but I was very impressed and blown away with this formula. Chanel lipsticks are what made me discover the close relationship that can exist between your lips and a lip color, and Dior's Rouge Dior reminded me again of that existence. I get even, full coverage and a color that never bleeds, cake or feather. The color remains put for about 4 hours before it begins to fade leaving a beautiful stain on the lips. The moist and creamy finish makes this lipstick comfortable to wear. Overall, I love everything about the this lipstick, from the color to the fantastic formula.

Would I recommend it to a friend?
Yes :)

Chanel Kaska Beige Eyeshadow Quad Review, Swatches and Look

$57.00
What it is: A neutral quad with beige, gold and purple shadows that coordinate well with each other.
"One essential compact offers unlimited eye looks, with shade combinations ranging from matte to frost to satin for multiple looks, contrasting or complementary. Apply dry for subtle shadowing. Slightly moistened applicator gives a more intense shade. Organic polymer derivatives ensure smudge-proof long wear, particularly in high temperature or humidity"
Packaging: The eyeshadows are incased in a luxurious palette like all other Chanel face products. There is a mirror included and two sponge applicator brushes. A velvet pouch is also included.

Description of Shades-
-A cream flesh tone with a matte finish
-A soft brown with a satin finish
-A deep burgundy/red undertone with a frost finish
-A brown mixed with amber and gold shimmer

Verdict: Chanel eyeshadows are soft and silky, making them a breeze to blend. This palette is perfect for creating a subtle natural day look or a more dramatic night look by coordinating the shadows differently. All shadows perform  well with a base underneath. None of them are chalky nor dusty.
*** If you are looking for a subtle-neutral palette that can be used during the day and intensified more for the night, you may want to take a look at Chanel's Kaska Beige quad.

  • Cream color on the brow bone
  • Brown with gold shimmer on the lid

  • Burgundy with a frost finish on the crease and lower lash line

Revlon Lip Butters in Lollipop and Raspberry Pie

Raspberry Pie 010 (left) and Lollipop 075 (right)

What it is: Revlon Lip Butter's are described as "buttery balms" that deliver a shiny color finish. There are 20 available shades, and depending on the shade you will get sheer to medium color payoff.
Packaging: If you are familiar with Revlon Colorburst lipsticks you will notice the similarities those have with this new formula. The lip butters are packaged in a plastic case with a quilted diamond pattern at the front and back.
Verdict: Being a fan of the lip products Revlon provides, I was not surprised that their new lip butters were going to become a great hit.  The product is opaque giving close to full coverage with just one swipe. However, I am sure that depending on the color you pick up the pigmentation will vary. As far as moisturizing, they are not particularly moisturizing but do not dry out my lips after wearing them consecutively for a couple days. I have seen this type of tinted lip balm formula come out from other brands. This year Chanel came out with Rouge Coco shines, which is a sheer lipstick formula. Revlon lip butters are somewhat similar, although more opaque and with a heavier feel on the lips. Chanel Coco Shines are glossy and weightless and last no more than 2 hours.  With the two lip butters I picked up, I got about 3 hours of wear. Overall, I am loving these lip butters and look forward to get my hands on Pink Truffle.

Tarina Tarantino Eye Dream Hyperliner in Sparkling Ammunition (Review, swatches and Look)

0.04 oz
US $15.00
What it is: Tarina Tarantino's eyeliners are described as;

"A collection of waterproof eyeliners, each with a soft and smooth texture, strong color payoff, and excellent coverage".

Verdict: Every time I would go into Sephora I would pass by these eyeliners, swatch them and then walk away. I finally decided to pick one up. Lately I have been gravitating towards green eyeshadow (MAC humid) and thought I needed a good green eyeliner for the lower lash line. This eyeliner performs very well for the lower lash line because it stays put and does not move. It is also extremely smooth and gives full coverage. **Sparkling Ammunition is a deep olive with gold shimmer. I can see myself using this shade often, because it adds color without being so bright. And the eyeliner shade being an earth tone color should always work when combining it with neutral-warm eyeshadows.

Would I recommend it to a friend?
Yes, yes!
